National Pesticide Forum: Videos The Arctic
Paradox, Marla Cone Marla Cone is one of the nation's premier environmental journalists. She has 22 years of experience covering environmental issues, including 18 years at the Los Angeles Times. In 2005 she published Silent Snow: The Slow Poisoning of the Arctic. What she discovered while researching the book was shocking: Tons of dangerous chemicals and pesticides from the U.S, Europe, and Asia are being carried to the Arctic by winds and waves and amplified in the ocean's food web with dramatic impacts on Inuit communities. Ms. Cone has twice won a national award for environmental reporting. Introduced by Shawna Larson, Alaska Community Action on Toxics and the Indigenous Environmental Network.
