I am an organic landscape gardener in Nashville since 1995, with excellent local references. Take advantage of my many years of experience as a full service gardener from maintaining healthy soil, stone paths and raised beds to passive composting (it's as easy as it sounds), edible landscapes, weed and pest control, and of course plant selections. Turn your outdoor living space, be it landscape, balcony, or rooftop, into a truly ecologically friendly environment without the use of toxic conventional chemicals. I am also available for garden coaching for those wishing to do it themselves but are in need of guidance.

What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

Using toxic substances as a last resort. I am strictly organic and have yet to be outsmarted.

Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Sometimes. Nematodes in early spring, snail/slug bait in early spring. Roses for blackspot.

How are pest problems identified?

I personally identify pest problems. I am always monitoring my gardens, especially if there has been a problem.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

First, a clean garden is a happy garden.

Do you use biological controls?

Yes, lacewing larvae, B.t., nematodes.

Do you use borates?

Do you use synthetic chemicals?

What are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend?

Pyola (pyrethrin), Escargot (which is not actually a pesticide)

If pesticides are used, how much are used per year of each?

Less than 1 qt/year. I use pyola as a last resort, mainly on boxwoods for psillids.

Does your company perform habitat modification?

Do you use any physical or mechanical controls?

Japanese beetle traps, glass bowls/yellowjackets.

What type of fertilizers do you use/sell/recommend?

I mix my own: blood meal, kelp, bonemeal, rock phosphate, alfalfa meal (organic), cottonseed (organic).

What do you usually use/sell/recommend for addressing:

termites DNR

cockroaches DNR

fleas (outdoor) nematodes

carpenter ants nematodes

fire ants nematodes

ants (indoor) cornmeal, chalk lines

crabgrass dig up

dandelions pull
