Landmark Landscape is an ecological landscape firm that promotes environmentally sound landscape practices in order to preserve, restore and establish native Wisconsin plant communities. We host designers, horticulturalists, arborists and landscape artisans who specialize in design, installations, maintenance and consultation.

What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

A tool used to decrease the frequency and applications of pest control products through monitoring and observing levels of pests and diseases.

Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Horticultural oil for scale in early spring if necessary, pre-emergent corn gluten for turf.

How are pest problems identified?

Experience, resource manuals and text. Accurate visual counts are monitored on host plants.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

Choosing the correct plant for the situation--native whenever possible, water, mulch, fertilizer and pruning all play important roles in reducing pests.

Do you use biological controls?

Diatemaceous earth and asian beetles (lady bugs where applicable). We have not purchased beetles.

Do you use borates?

No

Do you use synthetic chemicals?

Roundup (sparingly)

What are the top 10 pesticides you use/sell/recommend?

Corn gluten, pyrethrin, lime sulphur, hot pepper wax, insecticidal soap, horticultural oil, Force once

Less than 1 gallon per year

Hand weeding, hoeing, mowing invasive seed heads
