What is your definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)?

Treating insect and disease problems by examining the true problem and what is causing it. If treatments are needed, the least-toxic methods are used first. Nothing stronger than organic-based products are needed.


Is pest management performed on a specific schedule?

Yes - by monitoring feeding and disease, preventative applications are scheduled. Insects are treated if needed on a case by case basis.

How are pest problems identified?

Pests are identified visually. Seasonal trends are highlighted during scouting. We monitor before and after visually on site. Samples can also be brought back to the office microscope or to a lab to a plant pathologist is needed.

What practices do you use to prevent and/or control pests?

Cultural recommendations and select spraying.


Do you use biological controls?

Beneficial nematodes; microbial fungus; parasitic wasps; ladybugs, etc

All regular visit treatments are all organic. Merit (imidacloprid) is used supplementally for large trees with aphid problems.

Oil, soap, pyrethrum, neem, Bt, antitranspirant, copper

Minimal amount is used.

Does your company perform habitat modification?

We offer recommendations for habitat modification if needed to manage insects or disease.

Traps, bands, lures, core aeration.

What type of fertilizers do you use/sell/recommend?

Blood meal, bone-meal based fertilizers from local sources.

The best! Our landscapes are lush, healthy and strong. Direct comparisons with other yards not being fed and cared for organically reveal many more insect and disease problems and health problems.
