According to the Washington Post, &#8220;The combined company, analysts said, would be \u00a0the world\u2019s largest seed and pesticide \u00a0conglomerate, \u00a0controlling \u00a017 percent of global pesticide sales \u00a0and about 40 percent of \u00a0America\u2019s corn-seed and soybean markets.&#8221; The \u00a0press release, states \u201cThe combined company will be named DowDuPont. The parties intend to subsequently pursue a separation of DowDuPont into three independent, publicly traded companies through tax-free spin-offs. This would occur as soon as feasible, which is expected to be 18-24 months following the closing of the merger, subject to regulatory and board approval.\u201d The merger could revive attempts at consolidation between other big companies in the agrochemical industry. After the DowDuPont merger closes, the three businesses that the boards intend to separate are: Agriculture Company: &#8220;Leading global pure-play agriculture company that unites DuPont&#8217;s and Dow&#8217;s seed and crop protection businesses.&#8221; Revenue: $19 billion.
