This exciting environmental health conference is just about a month away, sign-up now<\/a> to pay the pre-registration rate.<\/font>Speakers, panels and workshops<\/strong>
\nMany scientists, authors, community leaders and activists have been added to the Forum line-up, which already includes Arturo Rodriguez, Devra Davis and Tyrone Hayes. View the updated speaker list<\/a> and schedule of events<\/a>, which now includes a list of workshop topics.<\/p>\n

Bus tour of CA agriculture community<\/strong>
\nJoin the bus tour<\/a> on Friday, March 14 to learn about the amazing efforts of activists from the San Joaquin Valley \u00ad the source of much of the state’s food for California, US and foreign markets. Tour begins at noon (meet at UC Berkeley Clark Kerr Conference Center). RSVP<\/a> required.<\/p>\n

\nWe’ve found that inexpensive airfare is still available, but should be booked soon. Kayak<\/a> seems to find good rates (round trip from Seattle $170; Chicago $285; New York & Washington, DC $300). A Sense of Wonder<\/strong>
\nThis year\u2019s Forum will include a performance of A Sense of Wonder<\/a><\/em>, a play written and performed by Kaiulani Lee, based on the life and works of Rachel Carson. The play is the story of one woman\u2019s love for the natural world and her fight to defend it. It is the story of the extremely private Rachel Carson thrust into the role of controversial public figure.<\/p>\n

We believe decisions should not be made for us by chemical companies or by decision-makers who either do not have all of the facts or refuse to consider them. Beyond Pesticides provides hands-on services to the public and supports local action by: identifying and interpreting hazards; and, designing safe pest management programs. With the information provided by Beyond Pesticides, people may not only be able to make informed choices and adopt practices that protect themselves and their families from unnecessary exposure to pesticides, but they will be able to effect changes on community-wide pest management decisions and policies that govern pesticide use, such as pesticide uses in parks, schools, for community insect control and along roadsides.
