Investigative journalist Carey Gillam has spent more than 20 years researching and reporting on how our food is produced – spending most of her career with the international news agency Reuters. Gillam's work has revealed decades of corporate secrets and deceptive tactics by powerful pesticide companies, including the global giant Monsanto Co. Her first book, Whitewash, won the Rachel Carson Book Award from the Society of Environmental Journalists in 2018. Her new book, The Monsanto Papers, was released March 2. Gillam testified as an invited expert to the European Parliament in 2017, and was an invited speaker at the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg, France in 2019. Gillam now works as a writer and researcher at the nonprofit investigative group US Right to Know and as a contributor to The Guardian news outlet.
