Julie Rosenbach is the Sustainability Director for the City of South Portland, Maine. Her role is to help make South Portland a thriving, inclusive, low-carbon community. To accomplish this, Julie works with two staff and partners with community organizations, citizens, and businesses to transition to clean, efficient, renewable energy, reduce waste, improve sustainable transportation options, preserve and protect important natural resources, and promote actions that make South Portland more resilient in the face of a changing climate.
Julie has over 20 years’ experience in the sustainability field. Prior to joining South Portland, she worked at the US EPA in Washington DC and at Bates College as the Sustainability Manager and lecturer in environmental studies. She received her bachelor's degree in Russian History from the University of New Hampshire and a master's degree in International Environmental Policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Julie and her wife have four kids, two dogs, a cat, and chickens—all of which help inform her work.
