Beyond Pesticides To Participate in Washington,
DC Green Festival
(Beyond Pesticides, October 13, 2006) Beyond
Pesticides’ own Michele Roberts is one of the 100 inspiring speakers
scheduled to appear at the Washington DC Green Festival, a project of
Global Exchange and Co-op America, Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 5:00PM.
Beyond Pesticides, along with 350 other exhibitors will have a booth
at the festival throughout the weekend. The Green Festival is a celebration
of what’s working in communities for people, for business and
the environment. Green is the color of hope, of social and economic
justice and of ecological balance. Please join Michele as she combines
her artistic talent of spoken word with her message “Moving Beyond
Pesticides.”
“Although we have made great strides in the movement, the most vulnerable are still in large numbers, therefore, it is important that we unite as a movement in order to bring true justice to who’s voices are still going unheard. Everyone deserves the right to a life beyond poverty and the impacts of toxic pesticide poisoning,” said Michele Roberts, project director of Beyond Pesticides, a national information and advocacy group.
Michele Roberts, is a project director with Beyond Pesticides, who advocates for effective community-wide change in pesticide policies as it relates to children and schools, hospital and health care facilities and public housing.
Also available at the Green Festival is organic food, great music, over 300 green businesses, as well as film, yoga and other types of movement classes. Beyond Pesticides will also host a book signing featuring noted author Evaggelos Vallianatos, former analyst with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and author of This Land is their Land: How Corporate Farms Threaten the World. Additionally, Beyond Pesticides’ new 28-page booklets, Threatened Waters: Turning the Tide on Pesticide Contamination will be available to the public for the first time.
Join Beyond Pesticides at the Washington DC Green Festival, October 14th and 15th at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC. Beyond Pesticides will be in Booth #566.
