Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

Monitoring pests on a regular schedule (written plan) and implementing least-toxic remedies. The focus is on prevention through appropriate cultural practices I.e. appropriate plants, locations, water, nutrients, mulching and pruning.

How Pest Problems Are Identified

Pests are identified by experienced personnel and reference material (books and websites if needed, or agriculture department). Pest populations are monitored before and after controls through visual inspection and record keeping.

Practices Used to Prevent or Control Pests

Remove poor performing plants and trees; design landscapes that fit the soil and climate. All organic and non-toxic methods.

Type of Fertilizers Used/Sold/Recommended

Fish emulsion, which acts as gopher control only. We do not maintain lawns (mowing, blowing, etc). We recommend people plant native grass and native plant meadows.

How Effectiveness of Pest Management Systems is Evaluated

We evaluate through weekly and bi-weekly monitoring, photo shots before contract, during and after, customer satisfaction, and health of plants using zero pesticides.
