Ecological landscape design and maintenance use beneficial insects, soil microbes, soil nutrition and appropriate plants to create balanced landscapes that are also beautiful. We use ecosystem engineers and managers who are experienced in residential, commercial & indoor gardens, exotics & natives, personal sanctuaries, meditation gardens and wildlife gardens.

Definition of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

An excuse to use pesticides. It is NOT ORGANIC or (applied ecology) natural. I have found several cases of the public being misled through an IPM program that was supposed to reduce pesticides, but actually did not. We practice ecological pest management (EPM), which eliminates 100% of toxic chemical use.

How Pest Problems Are Identified

By an educated field monitor or samples taken for ID, tick dragging to identify host and treating rodent vectors with Daminex (pyrethrum treated cotton for mouse holes to kill deer ticks).

Tools, Practices, and Materials Used/Sold

Practices Used to Prevent or Control Pests

Find the source of the pest and eliminate it at the source using knowledge of the pest to find weak links in its life cycle for the best control. We use soil innoculants, birdhouse & habitat development, proper plant placement and insect releases.

Biological Controls Used?

Bt, nematodes, beneficial insects & mycellium (fungus). Creation of bird habitat to encourage insectivore inhabitation.

Borates Used?

As an ant bait and wood wash for boring beetles.

Synthetic Chemicals Used?

No!!

Top Ten Pesticides Used/Sold/Recommended

We recommend that no pesticides be used.

How Much Pesticide Used Per Year, and How Applied?

None.

Uses Physical or Mechanical Controls?

We physically weed. Foliar washes to clean infested plants of mites and scales and aphids using cosmetic grade soap. We also apply a compost topdressing to turf to bury dormant annual weed seeds.

Type of Fertilizers Used/Sold/Recommended

Organic with microbes and crushed rock. We also use and recommend Organica, Plant Health Care, Espoma, Greensand, Rock phosphorous, Mother Earth Organics, Bradfeild, North Country Organics.
