41st National Forum Series — 2024 (Virtual)

Imperatives for a Sustainable Future

Reversing the existential crises of pesticide-induced illness, biodiversity collapse, and the climate emergency

Session 1:  October 30, 2024 — 2:00 - 3:00 PM Eastern (EDT)

Session 2:  Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement!

Thank you for participating in this year's National Forum series!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
A future supported by the natural environment depends on our effective involvement in decisions in our homes, communities, states, and at the federal level to ensure that we are taking the steps necessary to protect against existential threats to health, biodiversity, and climate. The Forum is an important opportunity to hear from those working as scientists, advocates, land managers (from gardens, parks, play fields to farms), and public decision makers about steps being taken and action needed to prevent catastrophic collapse of the natural systems that sustain life.

Plan Now to Join Us!

The goal of the Forum Series is to enable a collective strategy to address the existential health, biodiversity, and climate threats and chart a path for a livable and sustainable future. We come together to empower effective action. You are part of the solution!

Session 1: October 30, 2024, 2:00 - 3:00 PM Eastern (EDT) [Click here or on the tab above to register]

The Opportunity: Meet (virtually) Felix zu Löwenstein, PhD, author of Food Crash: Why Organic Is the Only Way Forward.

Focus: Adopt a holistic worldwide strategy to reverse the existential crises of pesticide-induced illness, biodiversity collapse, and the climate emergency.

Vision: Explore Dr. Löwenstein’s passion, grown from his life as an agricultural scientist, farmer, international agricultural aid worker, and leader in Germany’s association of organic food producers and organic research.

Mandate: Delve into the compelling facts about the adverse impacts of chemical-intensive agriculture on ecological and human health, food sovereignty, and animal welfare—and the viability, productivity, and profitability of the sustainable alternative now.

Felix Prinz zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, PhD

We are honored this year to begin the Forum Series with a German agricultural scientist and farmer as our honored guest, renowned as a critic of industrial agriculture. As the former chairman of the BÖLW (Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft), Dr. Löwenstein helped to promote the development of the organic food industry and to create sustainable framework conditions. He converted the Habitzheim estate, which has been owned by the family for 500 years, to organic. For his many years of versatile commitment to organic farming, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2011 his book was published: FOOD CRASH – Wir werden uns ökologisch ernähren oder gar nicht mehr and in 2015, Es ist Genug da. Für Alle. Wenn wir den Hunger bekämpfen und nicht die Natur.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the second session of the National Forum Series!
