On August 7, 2024, the Attorney General of North Dakota jointly filed a petition to EPA with 10 other states requesting the agency promulgate rulemaking to prevent states like California to from adding additional warning labels to pesticide and chemical products that go beyond the pesticide registration warning label requirement pursuant to federal pesticide law. Advocates, including regenerative organic farmers, farmworkers, public health professionals, and community leaders, view this move as an attack on the rights of pesticide exposure victims amidst a failed regulatory system that unnecessarily permits the use of toxic petrochemical-based pesticides.
According to state campaign finance data provided by the North Dakota Department of State, Bayer PAC or other pesticide manufacturer-related PACs did not contribute to state-level campaign races in the 2024 election cycle nor have they registered a PAC in the state going into 2025.
